Cisco WebEx Room Kit Serial connection over USB port

Hi All,

Our customer would like to switch from Cisco SX20 to Cisco WebEx Room Kit(CS-KIT-K9) as the SX20 become EOL.

Now for the SX20 we used always USB to Serial adapter to be able to control the SX20 over Crestron Control.

Now my question, does it will work also on the WebExRoom Kit as it has on the SX20 when we use USB port to connect serial adapter for Crestron? Does we have to consern about something?

Looking for your support.

Thanks and best regards

Nikola

USB to serial connection was recently added to the room kits. Please refer to the CE9 release notes for more info.

What about the WebEx Kit Mini?

I'd like to do In-Room Controls and with an External Video Switch with the MIni. Is this possible?

Yes, the Room Kit Mini runs the same CE software and has the same USB 2.0 type A port on it to allow you to connect a compatible USD-Serial adaptor as you would with the other devices in the Room Kit range.

This is mentioned in the CE9.6 Admin Guide where it says "The micro-USB port is for maintenance. If you want to access the video system's API over a serial connection, connect to the USB port (type A). Refer to the API guide for details."

Please remember to mark helpful responses and to set your question as answered if appropriate.

CE9 release notes are very vague listing it is possible.

We verified that we can connect using baud rate 115200 but authentication is an issue.

Once we enter the Webex License it locks out the admin account.

Any help would be appreciated - we will try to escalate to Cisco Support.

You will need to access the Webex Control Hub, then click on advanced settings for the unit in question and create a new user that has API access.

Thanks,

Amazing - thanks Justin.

We will try that and report back to the thread.
