Dear Team,

My client already has a CUCM 10.5 in his network and I have suggested a CMR solution for him, the BOQ of which you can see in the BOQ. I have proposed SX20 for him along with 5 webex & CMR licenses. My question is firstly does the SX20 need a TP license ? If it does which one ? I have included the licese in the BOQ, so you can check if its the correct one or not.

Secondly, I know people who have a working solution without the TP license for the SX20, is it because its a RTU license or its not required for SX20?

Thirdly do i need an RMS license here ? Why exactly is an RMS license needed? My understanding is that it is needed to connect to someone outside the network. Since this is a CMR cloud solution and everyone will be connected by cloud , so no need for RMS right ?

Hello Talal

If you want register SX20 on CUCM you need purchase TP license for CUCM.

TP license is not RTU.

For CMR Cloud you can use SX20 standalone without CUCM and without  TP license :-)

For CMR Cloud call from CUCM endpoints you need deploy Expressway-C/E and purchase RMS license.

We would need RMS license as well ? Why is that ? What's the purpose of RMS for this setup ?

Also I know someone who is using sx20 without a license and it's working with the cucm. And it's not on standalone.

Talal,

For ability to make B2B calls or make call to number of SMR Cloud your client must deploy two VMs (Expressway-C and Expressway-E) . Each B2B call uses one separate RMS license for each Expressway server.

Each phone on CUCM requre license. Your "someone" may use Enhanced license on CUCM and use SX20 as third-party device, but its wrong way.

so your saying a ucl license is being used for the sx20? How can they even allow it to work ? It might be wrong but then again cisco shouldn't allow it to happen. They should only allow TP license to be registered with the sx20 not any UCL license.

For CMR Cloud call from CUCM endpoints you need deploy Expressway-C/E and purchase RMS license.

Starting with X8.6.1, calls to cloud CMRs do not consume an RMS licenses, although under some certain circumstances it's still possible they could consume an RMS license, refer to the Expressway X8.6.1 Release Notes for more information.
