CMS Clustering mechanism

I have many questions regarding CMS Clustering.

1-Regarding the Cisco guide, you must only use the odd number for clustering 3 and a max of 5.

but for a reason in cisco dCloud "Cisco Meeting Server Advanced 3.0 Lab v1", the CMS clustered using 4 nodes (cms-db, cms1, cms2, and cms3)

2-is it a must for clustered nodes to have call bridge service enabled or not?

3-finally, CMS clustering is only used for scalable and resilience not for failover, is that's right?

Hi,

1) the total number of CMS VM's is more or less independent on the those "3 or 5" numbers.

You could use a VM only for DB or Callbridge, ...

2) You could also have CMS VM's with only DB running.

You define, which service runs on which CMS.

3) Yes, that's correct.

Hi b.winter,

thanks for your kind reply.

but I didn't get your answer to my first question, I asked how Cisco dcloud is used 4x CMS nodes in clustering CMS, however, the cisco DOC said 3 or 5 only for DB cluster.

thanks,

Because you can choose, which service runs on which CMS node.

E.g. you could activate DB service only on 3 nodes, but callbridge service runs on all 4 nodes.

Because it's a lab environment ';-)'
