Crestron to control c40

We seem to have the following problem with integrating our Crestron controller with the C40 unit.

Once the Crestron 3 is connected to the RS232 port (straight cable pins 2,3 and 5) and the required settings made i.e

Crestron       Cisco                 RS232

Pin: TX         Pin: 3                  Baud:           38400
Pin: RX         Pin: 2                  Parity:           None
Pin: GND      Pin: 5                  Data Bits:        8
                                                 Stop Bits :       1
Issue is that when the Com port is enabled in the codec, we loose control of the cameras and no image is present.
Please kindly clarify if a C40 is able to communicate with a Crestron Controller using serial commands?
Also, what cable supports the connection from the C40 COM port to the Crestron's interface?
Please assist and thanks in advance

The C Series codecs can integrate with Crestron and AMX control systems via RS232.  We have 12 C40s that are being controlled by Crestron 2-Series processors.

Make sure you have your serial cable pin out correct on both ends, as well as you're connected to the COM port and not the camera control port.
