CTMS and TIP confusion

I notice that CTMS support TIP(Telepresence Interop Protocal) in Release 1.7. Does it mean that TIP supported endpoint, such as T3, could make a video call directly to CTMS? or TP server is still needed for interop?

By the way, there is option license named "LIC-8710-TPI", which is the Telepresence Interoperability Opt For MSE8710 TPS Blade. Is this license used for interop between T3 and Cisco CTS? or used for interop with Polycom Telepresence endpoint?

Hi,

The T3 doesn't support TIP - a Telepresence Server is required to make calls between a T3 and CTS systems. No additional licenses are required on the 8710 for interoperability with CTS systems - licenses are required for interoperability with third-party multiscreen systems, such as the Polycom RPX. Third-party single screen systems and all Cisco systems are supported without additional licensing above the standard screen licenses.

Hope this helps,

Luc

Thanks a lot. Then what about the CTMS 1.7? Does it support interop with CTS system and third party TIP supported endpoint without using CUVC becasue of TIP feature?

HI Cheng,

No, you will still need to use either MXE or TS for the interop.

Note you won't be able to leverage the MXE if you're using multi screen systems on the interop end, in which case you have to revert to the TS.

I have attached a nice doc that explains this in more detail.

I don't see the attachment referenced.  Would you mind posting it again, or a URL to it?

Thanks,

Does someone know if with this TIP support the CTMS 1.7 (or 1.8) can cascade to a TP MCU like MSE 8000?

Maybe on MCU Rls 4.3?!?!?

thanks
