Integrate VCS (B2BUA) with Lync 2010 without some licenses

Hi,

Our VCS (X7.2) doesn't have Enhanced OCS and FindMe license. So, in order to integrate with Lync, I must:

  • Use no encryption since TLS needs Enhanced OCS. Media encryption in Lync is set to support encryption.
  • Use static route in Lync to VCS domain.

Can someone clarify my statements?

Hi

Your statements seems to be correct.

  • Use no encryption since TLS needs Enhanced OCS. Media encryption in Lync is set to support encryption.

Yes, without the key, you will not get media encryption. If you have Lync clients registered via an Edge server, their media traffic is in most cases encrypted, and will not work without the key.

  • Use static route in Lync to VCS domain.

That is correct. Without the FindMe license you will not be able to have a shared domain with Lync, and not be able to register the endpoints to the Lync server in order to route calls within the same domain. You will not get the richer presence either from video endpoints to the Lync clients. You will only see the offline/online status.

Remember that the Enhanced collab key is needed in case you have Edge servers in your deployment, since the key gives you the capability to point to the Expressway  as a TURN relay for media traffic between the two environments.
