Is it possible to register an EX60 as a Third Party SIP Device (Advanced) on the CUCM ?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the video/telepresence/H323/SIP word.

I know that it's now possible (and recommended) to register EX60/90 on the CUCM natively, that is to say as Telepresence devices (either with TC or TE firmware) and support full functionnality as opposed to being registered as a SIP Device but still .. is this just possible and what is the configuration?

Here is the final scenario, the SIP registration is a test related to this scenario :

- CUCM version 7.1.5

- MSE 8510

- EX60 TC 5.1

- Jabber clients registered on CUPS

My customer wants to make point to point calls between the EX60 and Jabber clients.

Two possibilities :

1 -

     - EX60 registered as H323 device on the MSE 8510

     - SIP Trunk between MSE 8510 and CUCM

     - EX60 and Jabber clients can call to each other through the SIP Trunk

2 -

     - Since the customer only wants point to point calls, i just thought I could register the EX60 directly to the CUCM as a Third Party SIP Device (Advanced since I need video calls). The CUCM version is 7.1.5 so i cannot register it as a EX60 device. What do you think?

3 -

     - What about H323 registration on the CUCM ? Is CUCM considered a H323 gatekeeper or do you need an external gatekeeper. What is the point of having an H323 client registered (or created as a device) on the CUCM?

Thank you

hope this solves your first query.

3> H323 registraion on CUCM , i  not sure if i am 100% correct however there is an option of configuring a H323 gateway on cucm

you can created a h323 trunk

there would be a better support 8.6 onwards

rest i will leave for cucm experts to comment upon

Thanks

Hi Ravi,

thank you for the links.

I made the SIP registration working with choosing "Standard" as the type of Proxy (as opposed to "Cisco" when I tried it at the beginning). I think that the "Cisco" Proxy type is maybe only necessary when registering natively (with a EX60 Device type as opposed to a SIP Thrid Party).

I also need to choose TCP (when set to UDP or Auto it doesn't work).

Hi Matt,

My pleasure

yes you would have to chose the TCP mode. in some occasion it works fine on Auto as well,

connect explain why ? that why provided you both the methods as we hev selected the TCP in the second link.

hope the infomration provided helped you configuring your EX60.

Thanks

Hi Matthieu,

besides from thread link provided to you by Ravi, you need to make sure that Digest user is created on CUCM for authentication purpose.

Hi Matt,

i hope your query would have been resolved by now, please mark this thread as answered yes or no

Thanks
