Issue keying in ip address for mx800 dual screen

How do I key in the ip address of aMX800 ver 8.++ dual screen unit that keeps insisting on an existing ip address first.

In ver. 7++ it was never an issue. I could arbitarily assign an ip address. Theen I cod log in via web and configure the unit.

Is there any way I can do the same with ver8.++

Are you not able to connect the MX800 to a DHCP enable network port, from there you can login to the web interface and assign a static IP address.  If running CE8.2.2 and later, I believe you can set the network settings manually using the Touch 10, but if you can't, you can using the API by connecting to the serial port.
