I bought 32 license RM for expressway but I don't know how to apply it for expressway.
Which way is right, applying all license on Exp-E or applying all on Exp-C or applying a half on Exp-E and a half on Exp-C.
Thanks.

You'll split the licenses up between the two Expressway servers, so 16 for each. If you apply them all to only one of the Expressway servers, then you can't make B2B, Jabber Guest, or H323/SIP interworked calls to/from CUCM outside your network because both the Expressway-Core and Edge servers work together, so they both will require RMS license.

this post is old but someone can find update useful: with new 8.8 version of expressway you can apply lics only on edge says release notes.

RMS licenses can be applied only to the Expressway-E. With this, your B2B calls will work fine.

Hi Elias Sevilla Duarte , release notes also mentioned Jabber with MRA deployment will not consume MRS lics. but Jabber guest will .
1)Is it because of jabber guest not registered on enterprise Expressway/CUCM ?
2) B2B will consume MRS is it because of remote business devices are on different phone/video system, outside of enterpise network?
3) my internal cisco phones registered on CUCM will not consume MRS when join meeting trough CMR cloud , correct?

Hi,
Users registered over MRA register to CUCM, so a call between Jabber clients (External to Internal, or vice versa) will not consume a RMS license, as the call goes to the same domain, so this should not be considered a B2B call.
A call to Jabber guest is considered a B2B call, and for that reason a RMS license will be used.
Basically, a RMS license will be used when the call is:
B2B call. (with or without encryption)
Interworked call (SIP to H323 or vice versa)
There might be other scenarios, but I don't have them handy.

RMS license is required whenver EXP is handling media or interworking call or IPv4 to IPv6 conversion calls or BFCP to H.329 for content sharing. or SRTP.(when zones are set to best effort).
if EXPC is only handling signaling part then it is not required.
it can be required in EXPC. when devices are registered on VCS as H323. because whenever you call from CUCM to an H323 endpoint its an interworking call.
so its not a general rule of thumb that its only required at EXPE. EXPE does require it for B2B and outside IP addresses.
