Recently, the question was asked, "Why is it that when a MCU Blade is in SD mode there are 80 ports available but when you configure the MCU to HD mode there are 20 port available and not 40?"
The reason why the port count goes down to 20 when in HD mode is that when the MCU is running in HD mode, it takes more DSP processing on the CPU which equals less port availability and also we reserve ports for streaming and content. But predominantly, the reason is the additional processing power needed to run in HD mode.
