MX300 Continuously Reboots

Just setup and finished testing our new MX300 VC unit. Powered it down after a day of use and now it continuously reboots. Anyone experience this behavior and have any suggestions on how to overcome it ?

Hi Dana,

There might be multiple reasons of it :-

1.) Incorrect Connections

2.) Wrong Connection of Ethernet Cable to Camera.

3.) Corrupt Software Image.

4.) HeartBeat Failure on the Kernel Image of the Codec's Software and other software configuration.

5.) Device Might be hitting some known Bug in Software

6.) Corrupt Config.db which is a known Cause in MX300's

WorkAround :

Factory default the system will delete the config.db file, and the system will boot up with a new clean one. The EX90/EX60/MX200/MX300 and the CTS C20 can all be factory defaulted by executing a special key combination using their power button/reset button. For the other systems/codecs you must use RS-232 (38400, N, 8, 1)  using the following procedure:

1) Stop the bootup sequence when connected to system using RS-232. Hold down the B button, then confirm with C.

2) Once you are in U-Boot execute the command: setenv othbootargs factory default.

3) Then type boot, the codec will now boot up as factory default

what is the special key combination using the power button/reset button?

Hi Tim,

This is already mentioned by Saurabh above. For your info, here's the key combination :

1  Connect a serial cable to the system at 38400, 8, N, 1

2  Reboot the system, and hold b until “Press 'b' to enter u-boot” message appears

3  Press c to stop auto boot, then SATURN> or AMERICA> or anyname> prompt will return.

4 type command setenv othbootargs noboot allowroot then hit enter this will not return anything

Also, when you reach the AMERICA prompt, please type selectsw and check which image is active out of the two. It seems that the codec is still booting from the corrupted image.

Hi Tim,

My apologies. The key combination using Power/Reset button is :

1. When the unit is off (power must be plugged in), press and hold the power button

2. Wait until the power LED goes dark and then light up again (approximately 10 seconds).

3. Then release the power button and press it twice.

4. The system will boot up and display a confirmation message on the video screen if the process was successful.

the power is a switch, and the reset button requires a sharp object.

In TC5.0 and earlier versions the following method can be used to restore the factory

default settings:

MX solution:

Insert sharp object into the reset hole for 5 seconds (system can be ON or OFF)

Call LED lights up continuously while "factory reset" is being performed (minimum 3

seconds)

System boots up as normal and displays confirmation on video screen

In TC5.1 the following method can be used to restore the factory default settings:

MX solution:

Press the small reset button for approximately 5 seconds after switching power on,

then release it.

The system boots up and display a confirmation message on the video screen if the

process was successful

The information did not solve my issue, when I attempt a factory reset the main tv units lights all go out like it is powering down, then the power switch is required to be toggled to off then on to continue. At which point the unit continues to boot loop.
