HI ,

We have tried to install two mx300 G2 with CE 8.2.1 , but when tried to give static ip getting error as no network connection, tried multiple ways to get it in network.

  • with default setting un checked and dhcp setiting un checked given ip g/w and subnet, no dns, vlan auto
  • with default setting un checked and dhcp setiting un checked given ip g/w and subnet, provided dns, vlan in manual mode
  • when default mode is unchecked screen in showing momentarily ip as 10.1.1.228 and getting error as dhcp server is not reachable
  • when laptop is connected with g/w ip and static ip given to mx via touch control same error as no n/w connection
  • when connected to switch , mx is visible in cdp neighbor but no ip

Not sure whats causing issue. Can someone guide ?

Our MX200G2 didn't get a ip address from DHCP server

I had received maunally configureation guide line from cisco TAC as below

-------------------------------------------------

We will only be able to perform software upgrade once the device gets the IP address. Hence, I would request you if possible for you to please provide the IP address to the codec through serial access. You may use any laptop having putty software or any other terminal like terminal like Zterm (MAC), Minicom (Linux). Please follow the below steps to provide the IP address serially:

  1. Please try to assign static IP address to this device by serially accessing the device. Follow the below mentioned steps:
  • Connect a simple micro-USB to USB cable(same as commonly used in charging android phones) from this device to your laptop. Micro USB port on codec highlighted in below URL(please refer for maintenace only port( it's micro usb port) of Page 5):

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/mx-series/installation_guide/mx200-g2-floorstand-installation-sheet.pdf

  • Go to the device manager in your laptop, check for the COM port.
  • Using Putty software, choose serial, baud rate: 115200 and enter the COM port you found from the above step and access the device serially.
  • You will enter the command line of your device. Enter the credentials of the device(if any).
  • Enter the following commands to assign the IP address statically:xConfiguration Network 1 IPv4 Address: <Provide the valid IP address>xConfiguration Network 1 IPv4 SubnetMask: <Provide the valid subnet mask>
  • xConfiguration Network 1 IPv4 Gateway: <Provide the valid gateway>
  • xConfiguration Network 1 IPv4 Assignment: Static

2. Now the IP address should ideally be assigned to the device. Same IP address should be displayed on touch panel as well, save the configuration and proceed ahead by choosing other configurations on touch panel.

3.Now try to ping this IP address from a reachable device or try to access the device through SSH or web interface. The IP address should successfully be assigned to this device.

Does the MX300 G2 obtain an IP address if using DHCP?

Do you have the network cable plugged into the correct port on the endpoint, as one is marked LAN and the other for the Touch 10?

We do not want MX to get DHCP ip , anyways we tried that also but it momentarily displays ip and vanishses and that IP is not from our dhcp pool. We have seen the mx300 in switch cdp neighbor list. So i guess its connected to rite port.

I didn't work anyting, DHCP and Static IP setting... it was new product and first install using touch 10

Lee ,

Can I have the TAC SR  refernce number ?

Hi Arun

I didn't create TAC Case, the other person was created it.

please refer to bug information as below

https://quickview.cloudapps.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCvb30973

how do you force an ip address to the MX300 if it doesn't have a serial port ??

If you are using a current software release, you can change it in the web interface of the device.  The reason it didn't work via the web interface in the original poster's circumstances was that there was a bug in that particular software release that stopped the settings from working.  All the recent software releases do not have this problem.
