No image From C40 Camera After Reboot

David McCann

After rebooting the C40 codec the  camera does not  communicate or provide an image until all cable connections and power are removed and replaced. This occurs on numerous endpoints and has  persisted through software upgrades.

Currently. TC 7.2.1

Are the cameras directled connected to the codecs, or do you have something between the codec and cameras that the video and/or camera control goes through?

Are you using the provided cables that came with the codec, or are they custom made?

Do you have a known working camera, if so, I'd suggest you swap a good working camera with a faulty one and try to see if it's the camera or something between the codec and camera.

We occasionaly see this issue on some of our C60 installations - but our cameras are located a long distance away from the codec and using custome cables.  We've found the newer software releases (TC7.3.3+) are a lot more stable in this instance than the earlier TC7.x software.

If your camera is located a long distance away from the codec - you'll also need to make sure that it;'s powered separately as the voltage drop over the control cable can be too great at longer distances (and this can also become more of an issue over time).

When we've seen this issue occur, a quick power cycle of the camera usually fixes the problem.
