no video for far end participants

Hey everyone,

We have a customer set up, in which there 5-6 MXP endpoints at one common place registered to same gatekeeper..
When dialling to each other call is connecting but there are is no video coming of far end participant & the same issue has been noticed with every endpoint.

But while calling to some participants at other geographical location, we are getting the far end video.

Can anyone suggest what could be the issue here.

Thanks in advance
Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,

Are you dialing SIP call or H323 call ? MXP uses diffrent ports for H323 and SIP .

Check H323 calls and SIP calls and check either call is working or both are not working .

If both calls are not working then check network what martin is suggested .

Hi Nikhil,

As you have mentioned all the deivices are registered with a common gatekeeper .

I assume audio is working fine.

To isolate the issue you can try to make a direct call between any two endpoints.

You can change the calling mode through below command.

xConfiguration h323callsetup mode: direct

by changing this mode on two endpoints test a IP call and see if you are getting the video or not?

if it fix the issue then we need to check the firwall port settings or gatekeeper settings further.

Hope this helps

"some gatekeeper" is not really a verbose info ;-)

check out the network deployment, what components are involved, thats most likely a network

issue, Firewall, Inspction, ALG, L3-awarenes, NAT(helper), ...

Hi Dharmesh & Martin,

We are dialling through h.323 only, I just wanted to confirm whether can we identify the cause for this through any logs from mxp EP..

Thanks

You can put a port mirror device at both endpoints (+ gatekeeper) and capture whats send and what is received.

If there is any kind of firewall used, check on that. It might not be just the open ports its more often

the l3 capabilities which might not even show up in the config untill there are disabled.

* NAT is known to cause issues

* maybe a BK instead of a GK should be used (assent/h460.x)

Martin, what do you refer as BK here ?

Hi Nikhil,

If port mirror is not possible immidiately then collect Syslog on MXP and netlog 2 on vcs ( if it is 6 or later ) or diagnostic log ( VCS 7 and above).

This will give basic idea why call is failing .
