Opinions - running different version of software in VCSc and VCSe (x7.2.2 --> x7.1)

Hi all,

We run many VCS Controls that peer to single VCS Expressway. All devices in the group run x7.1 at this moment in time, however, we need to swap out a VCS control for a new device. The likelihood is that the new device will have x7.2.2 from the factory.

Does anyone know of any good reason NOT to run x7.2.2 on the control in conjunction with x7.1 on the expressway?

Eventually we will upgrade the all units to x7.2.2, but the old adage of - "if it anit broke...." applies.

We have run some basic tests with setting up a a VCSc running x7.2.2 with a traversal zone to a VCSe running x7.1 with no obvious side affects, and I don't see anything obvious in the release notes, but any real world observation might be useful.

Cheers,

Chris.

I've run 7.1 VCS-C's to 7.2 VCS-E's  with no hassle.

Note that 7.1 to 7.2 (or maybe it's 7.0 to 7.1?) the default traversal ports change, so you will need to be aware of this and either make changes to one of your VCS's and/or your firewall accordingly.

Thanks Nick,

As we use multiple VCS Controls connecting a traversal zone to a single VCS Expressway, we utilise unique ports for both SIP and H.323 tunnels on each VCS-C, so the default ports will probably not effect us - but useful to know nevertheless.

Hi Chris,

No issues you run the VCS-C and VCS-E with versions you have mentioned.
