Problem EX90 port HDMI

Oscar Rebolledo
Level 1
Level 1

Hi everyone,

I have problems with the HDMI port on the EX90, not given image to connect any device (PC, tablet) to generate presentation.

The following processes were performed but the problem persists:

  • Reinstall firmware(TC4.2)
  • Factory reset

The problem has been presented in two different teams.

Has anyone seen this before or got some ideas to help troubleshoot it?

Regards,

Oscar R

Hi Oscar,

We have seen various issues in TC 4.2 and it is a very old build which has been found to contain many known issues. Is there a specific reason why you're only testing on this firmware? Is there a possibility you can try on the latest and greatest TC 5.1.4 so that we can check what is the cause?

Please also let me know if the signals from the HDMI cable are HDCP. Also if possible let us know Video Input Source settings which are configured for the HDMI port. It is possible that some setting might be causing this issue.

Hope this helps.

Mubashshir Akhtar

Thanks Mubashshir Akhtar

Hi Mubashshir

Thanks for the info, For now it is not possible to perform the firmware upgrade (no support contract), is recommend installing the version TC4.1 to test HDMI input signals.

We are not using signals with HDCP, laptop ((Board Intel and AMD)) are connected  and Apple products (iPad, iPhone).

HDMI input settings:

    Name : HDMI Presentacion

    Connector : HDMI

    Type : PC

    Quality : Sharpness

    closed CameraControl

        Mode : Off

        CameraId : 1

    closed OptimalDefinition

        Profile : Normal

        Threshold60fps : 1280_720

DVI input settings:

     Name : DVI Presentacion

    Connector : DVI

    Type : PC

    Quality : Sharpness

    closed CameraControl

        Mode : Off

        CameraId : 1

    closed OptimalDefinition

        Profile : Normal

        Threshold60fps : 1280_720

Regards,

Oscar R.

Hi Oscar,

Your HDMI settings look fine. Here are the two things you can do:

Check the Default Presentation Source set on the codec. You can do that by having a look at the following command:

*c xConfiguration Video DefaultPresentationSource: 3 (This shows that default presentation source is set to Video Input Source 3)

So this source should have the Video Input Source configured as HDMI,

Second thing you can do is upgrade to TC4.2.3 which is a minor release and does not require a release key & hence you should be able to upgrade to it.

Hope this helps.

Can we see status of the HDMI input ?

xstatus Video Input HDMI

*s Video Input HDMI 1 Connected: False

*s Video Input HDMI 1 SignalState: Unknown

** end

OK

And also do :

sys-con vpe0

****** Welcome to SYSTEM_VPE0 ******

Use 'quit' to end connection

OK

Connected

vpe-info all

quit

Capture your session and send over the data so we can see the status of the HDMI.

Hello,

Thanks for the info, xConfiguration Video DefaultPresentationSource: 1 corresponds to the HDMI port:

If the connector (HDMI input) correct, the strange thing is that it happened in two EX90.

It might sound stupid but better worth checking! HDMI input ant output connectors are pretty close to each others. Are you absolutely sure cable is plugged into correct HDMI connector?

Thomas is right !! It is very much possible !!

I ran into some issue few months back where the customer was trying to connect the HDMI coming from the iPad but it was flickering constantly going OFF & ON. From the output you provided for both working and non-working, looks like the same flickering issue to me.

Are you transmitting the HDMI signals from an iPad or another such Tablet? If yes, then it is possible that you're seeing issues because of that. We noticed during that troubleshooting that the HDMI signals generated from the Tablet were not exactly the HDMI signals which the codec anticipates.

Plus, when you're using a PC for presentation, is that a MAC? If yes, can you try connecting a regular PC to check if the problem persists. Also make sure the screen resolution on the laptop/PC should be 1024 X 768.

Hope this helps.

Mubashshir Akhtar

The HDMI input does not seem to detect much :

valid local inputs for FPGA 0:

        16 (Multiplexed video link)

        64 (Decoded video stream)

        65 (Decoded video stream)

        128 (HDMI) (0x0)

This is when an HDMI detects valid input signal :

valid local inputs for FPGA 0:

        16 (Multiplexed video link) (1280x720)

        64 (Decoded video stream)

        65 (Decoded video stream)

        128 (HDMI) (1280x720@60)

Can we connect to the vpe0 and collect some debugs?

sys-con vpe0

****** Welcome to SYSTEM_VPE0 ******

Use 'quit' to end connection

OK

Connected

vpe-debug -l 2 -m 3 -p -e

vpe-debug -l 2 -m 10 -p -e

wait a minute or so with your HDMI connected and then do :

vpe-debug -l 0 -m 3 -p -e

vpe-debug -l 0 -m 10 -p -e

quit

systemtools rootsettings on cisco

OK

And the login as root using ssh and password cisco and do :

cat /var/log/eventlog/vpe0.log

You should see output like this :

Nothing seems to be detected on HDMI.

Have not connected any input on my EX90 using HDMI yet.

Will show logging to engineering to see what they can tell me.

Hello,

I plugged in a camera into my EX90. The are 2 HDMI connectors. Input is the one "furthest" at the back of the unit. Check the layout of the connectors in this document. Once I hooked up the camera I did some debug on VPE0 by going into tandberg shell logged in as admin and then do :

Leave the above window open and then opn  2nd window logged in as root, or alternatively, check the vpe0.log file via the WEB GUI :

http://10.60.142.199/web/logs/file/current?file=eventlog%2Fvpe0.log

Or use root to check the file /var/log/evebtlog/vpe0.log :

tail -f /var/log/eventlog/vpe0.log

(exit with C")

Here's is the logging I see starting with powered off camera, and then power applied to camera :

Could you please try with a specific resolution and specific device so we have a baseline what you are connecting and I will try to do the same.

Danny.

Hello,

The tests were performed with the same resolution settings in the EX90 and the PC.

You can fix the problem by updating the firmware (TC5.1.5) because the team have version 4.2.3.

PROBLEM MAY BE PHYSICAL IN PORT HDMI.
