Quickset SX20 extend camera cable

Hi, I've seen several discussions around extending the camera cable for the SX20. But they all seem to reference the 12X camera which has cat-5 and HDMI cable configuration. In my deployment I'm using the Quickset SX20 with 4X PHD Camera (CTS-SX20-PHD4X-K9)

This camera has the proprietary connection on both ends of the cable, so the extender kit does not work.

Is there any way to extend this camera cable?

Thanks,

Brad

You can extend the SX20 camera with the use of custom Y-cables that allow you to break out the HDMI and camera control into two separate cables.  The part numbers are CAB-HDMI-PHD12XS and CAB-PHD4XS2-SPLIT, refer to pages 19 and 20 in the PrecisionHD Camera User Guide.

Ok great, I didn't realize this worked for the SX20 quickset as well. Thanks for the assistance!

by no means am i a network guy.  So we have the  CAB-HDMI-PHD12XS split cable with the female ends (page 20 of the endpoint guide)  We connected a normal (off the shelf) cat 5 cable straight through cable.  The message on the screen is a caution sign icon with message No Camera Connected.  The camera works but that annoying message is displayed.

any ideas because we cannot control the zoom on the camera.

Some of what you are doing will depend on the codec and the camera you are using - it's likely that the -SPLIT cable is the wrong thing for your use case (especially if you're then not using it with the one that came with the codec/camera to recombine for the older custom plug cameras).

If you're using a newer camera (such as the 1080p12x) then you just use the standard cable that comes with the SX20 (CAB-HDMI-PHD12XS), and extend using a normal ethernet cable (with a RJ45 joiner in between the two), and similar for the HDMI.

Note: if you extend the cable too far then there will be too much voltage drop to be able to power the camera, and you will need to power the camera separately.
