I am trying to register  DX80 to  VCS-Expressway , i received this below error in vcs-E ,,, 8061102 is allowed in allow list.

On dx80 -C.E 9.3.1 ,,i select  VCS and provide domain name as  mmm.com ,, hostname. vcse.mmm.com , username:8061102 ,,,no password ,,,  after some seconds of searching it throw an error ' activation failed ,contact admin"

public CA  certificate is already in place ,,copied thru device web gui ,,

In parallel i successfully registered a 3rd party sip client to VCS-E (microsip) and inbound/outbound calls  to/from cucm were success. the same user-id ( 8061102) when used in DX80 is getting registered.

there is NO particular config document to follow in cisco.com,,,,

VCS - 8.1.1

C.E 9.3.1

is there anything i am missing !

mmm.com is already a public domain,,,name changed for privacy

I have seen problems in the past with certain home routers that did not support lookup of SRV records, so if the DX80 is using the router as its DNS source, this could be the problem.  A workaround for this is to set the DNS server on the DX80 to Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS server which can look up SRV records).

Another thing to check would be that the device is being configured in the right place - in your post you mention that the VCS is running software version X8.1.1 (which is quite old, and you should consider upgrading it if it is actually running that), but in the log you posted, the VCS it is connecting to is running X8.11.3, which is different to where you said - so double check that it's all set up and connecting to the right places.

I'd also recommend that you check that you have your VCS and DX80 configured similar to how it is specified in the Deployment Guide, expecially with regards to how to set up for a Home user.

Dear Wayne,

If I have a VCS without CUCM and I want to get a DX80 to work on it , what type of license should I have ?

shall I use the TP Room only or should i go with the cloud subscription and meeting user

If you are only registering your DX80 to a VCS platform, you don't need any "TP Room" or "Cloud" licences for the system.  You just need to make sure that you have enough registration licences on the VCS (which you should, as the default is 2500), and also have enough Traversal and Non-Traversal licences on your VCS to handle the concurrent call capacity - which, by adding a single additonal device, isn't likely to be a big increase to your current capacity, but is something that you should investigate in your environment to confirm you are not exceeding any of the licence usage (The current licence usage stats can be seen on the Overview page on the web interface for the VCS).  If you have TMS to monitor your environment, then you may need additional an additional TMS system licence if you also do not have enough free there (the current licence count shows on the main Portal page of TMS web interface).
