RemoteControl for EX60?

Hi guys,

my contact want's to know, if you can use a RC instead or beside the appendant TouchPanel of a EX60.

Before you ask - I'm not able to say why he want's to use a RC.

My idea was, that we don't have a OnScreen menu on the EX series - for that it's probably not possible.

I also found no hint in any documentation of the EX series to use a RC.

I only want to make sure, that there is no hidden backdoor to use it.

Thanks and cheers,

Fabian

Hi Fabian,

Yes, you would be able to use the Remote Control on the Ex90/Ex60. Please follow the steps below in order to activate :

  • Login to the SSH/Telnet as admin
  • Issue the following commands :
  • xConfiguration Experimental SystemUnit MenuType: Full
  • xConfiguration SystemUnit IrSensor: On

Please keep in mind that by default this is disabled. Also, if you have the Touch Panel connected, the Remote Control will not work. Please disconnect the Touch Panel and you should be able to use the Remote as soon as the codec detects the Touch Panel disconnected.

I am running TC5.1.0 on my Ex90 and am able to access it. Please let me know if you face any issues.

Hi Mubashshir,

my contact tested your instructions.

Today he replied everthing is fine and working.

His statement for reason of request was the habitualness of users.

The want to naviogate with the RC - even though it would be more comfortable with the TouchPanel...

Anyway! Thank you very much for your helping answer.

Regards,

Fabian

Hi,

On the New Recommended software version for the EX60 (TC7.3.15)

If you are using the Systems web interface:

  • Search for "SystemUnit" Go to the "MenuType" option, Click the Drop down and select "Interactive"
  • Then Make Sure your "IrSensor" is set to "On"

If you are Using telnet or SSH, use the following commands:

  • xConfiguration Experimental SystemUnit MenuType: Interactive
  • xConfiguration SystemUnit IrSensor: On

That Should Get you up and running without the need for Touch Panel.

Regards

Kirk Joshua
