Room Kit direct call without registration

Hi!

Can Room Kit/Plus make direct calls withour registration?

As I understand it works with CE9. So it means that it can make direct call via SIP/H.323  without any registration.

Am i right?

Yes, that is correct. Both RKs can function independent of any video infrastructure; or they can be registered to CUCM, VCS or Spark Cloud.

Hi Justin,

Do you know if a Cisco  Spark Room Kit can call through direct IP dialling to a 3rd party VC endpoint?

Thanks

Forgot to mention that the CSR Kit is registered in the Spark cloud.

If your SRK is registered to the Spark Cloud, then you can dial a SIP URI.  If you've only been given an IP address, try sticking something and an @ in front of the IP, ie endpoint@ipaddress.

Thanks.

Tried that, with no success. Any other ideas?

If that's the case, then the other system is likely a H.323 device, not SIP, so you'll need to have something in between them that can interwork the protocols.

That is correct. But in the documentation you specify that csr kit supports
h323. No mention to the need of anything in between.

The SRK endpoint does support H.323 if used as a Standalone unit (as per the original poster's query), or if registered to a Call Control Platform that supports H.323 (ie Cisco VCS), or, with something that can interwork between SIP and H.323 if it is registered to a SIP only Call Control Platform (CUCM / Spark Cloud / etc).

Can I convert it to stand alone? Do I need aditional licensing?

Endpoints registered to Spark purchased under MSRP pricing can't be converted to standalone endpoints, they only support bring registered to Spark. Endpoints purchased under GPL pricing can be registered to on-premise call control and/or operate standalone.

Thanks for the info, Patrick.

Interesting, how do they prevent this via the software? Could you just use TFTP to load the regular PKG on the unit?
Thank you,
