What is the proper way to connect these, we are using a shop made cable, xlr (mixer) to 4 pole mini ( +,- and grd only) but when they are pugged in the  local audio drops and there is background noise and the far end incoming audio clips. Unplug the Shure mixer (set to mic level out) and all is well when using the codec mic.

have you ever gotten this to work?

maybe a groundloop issue -  you could try to put a DI-Box with ground-lift-switch in between.

thank you.
