SX10 - Snapshots require the RemoteMonitoring option key.

Hello

We just got a number of SX10 and during setup we noticed a RemoteMonitoring option key is required.   I do understand why this could be a security issue but how could I obtain this key?

Hi Roger,

Remote Monitoring option key is free of charge. You can obtain the key by sending an email to licensing@cisco.com.

Remote Monitoring option key is free of charge.

Note, it's only free unless you get it before January 1, 2016, after which it will then be a paid feature, $100 list price.

Problem is that in CCW this option is not part of the ordering of the unit itself, but is part of another completely separate SKU which would be easy to miss.

Also, this should be free to any device that is under smartnet as this is a feature that was working and Cisco is making a manditory change.

I have a case open with licensing so will see where this goes.

Good luck with trying to convince Cisco that this should be free.  We've been a big part of the global push for this ever since it was announced, but they're not budging on that at all.  The best we've been abel to do is to get our local account team to agree to discount any endpoint purchase a little more to offset the additional cost of the L-TP-RM license.

As discussed in the thread linked by videoconftech above, the snapshots feature has been very broken for a long time, and is still not 100% functional in the latest TC7.3.6 or CE8.1.1 releases.

Given that all the previous TC7 releases have now been deferred due to security vulnerabilities, it's getting even harder to have an up to date system that is also functional the way it used to be.

We're now rolling all systems back to TC7.2.1 as Cisco is continuing to screw things up.... :(

You will need to order the option keys through your local Cisco Partner.  They cost US$100 list price.
