Does anyone know how to recover a lost password for an MXP 1000?

Or how to reset to factory defaults?

There is no console port.

TIA

Try this (I haven’t use this method for a while and don’t have T1000MXP with me to re-verify but should work), but please note this process will remove option keys (both BW and Feature option key a part of factory reset on Codec) therefore if you don’t have backup option key you will then require to contact Cisco license team or retrieve keys from on-line.

  1. Unplug power cable from 1000MXP codec (to restart Codec)
  2. Hold down the speaker/headset key in front panel
  3. Plug power cable (to boot up) but kept holding down the speaker/headset key
  4. Press 1 then # key on front panel
  5. Release key

1000MXP should restart automatically and boot up with factory default parameter

Hi Tia,

You should be able to use the remote to factory reset the unit by navigating through the menus. For more information please check the screenshot below:

You can refer to the following information in MXP Administrative Guide Page 19.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response.

But that menu is also password protected, and I do not have that PW either.

The MXP 1000 does not have a front button panel. (I've attached a picture)

It does have one button on it - to toggle headset on/off.

I tried holding that button down then powering up. Then use the remote to enter - 1 #

But no luck. Still comes up with existing config.

Unfortunately I do not have Smartnet on it.

Just a unit I was planning to use at home.

Apologies not clear explanation, the headset on/off button is located below the speaker (showing in red circle).

And “Press 1 then # key on front panel” supported to use remote controller.

You are correct - Thank you very much.

I tried a few more times and was successful.

Just took three hands to make it all work.

Great, and thanks for sharing the result which will be useful reference for other as well.
