TMS 14.2.1 Upgrade and Hotfix KB980368

We host TMS on a Windows Standard 2008 server. I have tried multiple times to install the Windows Hotfix KB980368 and have had no success. I keep getting an error that "The update does not apply to your system" even though I chose the W2008 Standard file. Does anybody know how to get this installed? I can't move to TMS v. 14.2.1 without this hotfix.

Hi Scott, Do you have the service pack 2 installed on you Windows 2008 server? it's a requirement for both TMS 14.2.1 and KB980368.

Yes, SP2 is installed.

Make sure to download the one corresponding your architecture:

Windows Server 2008 32-bit

Windows Server 2008 64-bit

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=ea73eb84-152d-4462-9370-3c27eb38969c

Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems

If it still fails, I would let Windows Update does its job since your system might miss other important updates.

Well, I did originally download the one for W2008 32-bit but that didn't work so I tried all of the others and got the same error message.

Hi Scott,

Can you run the below mentioned command from windows command prompt and identify if this hotfix is already installed ?

C:\systeminfo

Also you can identify the System Type: if it is 32 or 64 bit OS installed.

BR,

Mahesh Adithiyha

Mahesh, I ran the system infor and did not see the KB980368 hotfix. We are on a 32-bit OS.

I've also encountered this problem.

Hotfix won't install and we're running Win 2008 SP2 as a 64bit OS.

I have tried this with both TMS versions 14.1.1, 14.2 and 14.2.2.

I had this exact issue. I finally upgraded the server to 2008R2 applied all the service packs and then it WORKED! (Only two days wasted)

Good Luck

do you have OS32 or OS64?

Mark

I went with OS64 bit

Similar to Zekimmel, I also had to upgrade Windows to 2008 R2 64 bit OS on VMWare vSphere.

Guess it's one of those undocumented features.....

Go to this link and download the package specific to your Server OS installation.  Windows Update seems to think everything is 2008 R2 64-bit OS.

I had the exact same problems listed in this post. I found this site and downloaded my specific package and it installed fine.  Then I could install TMS.

Good times

Hi All,

We were facing the same issue with upgrading TMS and having to run the hotfix on a windows 2008 server box (non R2). I found the same hotfix on another microsoft webpage that has that version! We downloaded and were able to apply the hotfix easily.

Hope this helps!
