Hi all, I have couple questions on TMS

1) Can TMS support any other TCP ports  (instead of the default 1433) for database connection?
2) What is the service hours of TMS system? Can define a regular maintenance time window for IT related maintenance?
3) Can TMS support SQL server network encryption connection?
4) -What is the estimated database size for 1yr, 3yr & 5yr? for regular and larger deployment?
5) If “The latency between the Cisco TMS server and the SQL server must not exceed 20 ms.” cannot be guaranteed, what will happen ?

Thank you very much!!

TMS encrypts system username and password data in the database, but not sure about other data.
The TMS install guide says the disk space needed for a large tmsng database is typically 20-30 GB, and the size of the three Cisco TMSPE databases will not exceed 6 GB in most deployments. You can use this to help determine the databases sizes. TMS allows you to purge old data from the database to help keep the size down as needed by configuring how many days to keep certain data for.
Issues related to latency between TMS and SQL isn't documented, but I'd assume you might run into issues where TMS might not function correct or be degraded.

1) Yes, you can use different ports. You just append :port to the IP

2) Not sure what you mean with this question? I recommend rebooting at least every 90 days and installing updates as soon as they come out.

3) I am not sure on this.

4) There is no way to answer this question as this totally depends on the following items:
a) How big is your deployment?
b) How busy is your deployment?
c) How long do you keep CDR records, conference records, etc.?
d) How often is SQL being backed up (This wipes the transaction logs)

5) I am not sure this is a TMS related question, this would be more of a what happens to any application when communicating with SQL... or how does SQL handle latency.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin

    Thanks for your comments

Actually, these questions were raised by my client. I can't find answers in cisco TMS installation guides and admin guides.
