VCS-C/E Appliance to Expressway-C/E

CGL

Hi all,

We have an upcoming system migration from VCS-C/E Gen 1 appliance to the latest Expressway-C/E VM version.

Is it possible to back up the old configuration of a VCS and restore it to Expressway version?

If so, what version numbers do each machine have to be on to allow this?

If not, what is the current best method for migrating from VCS to Expressway?

Thanks so much

Hello,

Om VCS or expressway if wanted to restore your backup the software version should be exactly same.
As you mentioned your VCS is on Gen 1 then its software version must be equal or less tha x8.8.2 (because that is the highest support version on gen1 boxes)
It means if you wanted to restore your backup you need the same version virtual machine.

But of you do so then-
- Only conf and certs will backup you will still need to transfer all licenses accoring to new serial number
- Also then you try to upgrade you will need to upgrade first x8.11 and then to x12.5

So it will be better if you directly deploy a x12.5 ova and reconfigure it, it will be easier.
Please see the release notes before proceeding-
