VCS: Error: Cannot read the Event Log /mnt/harddisk/log/messages.5

Hello,

I've deployed 2 VCS Expressways in cluster with X8.1.

I've enabled debug mode for H.323 and SIP.

On both VCS's I see these errors when going in Status-> Logs:

Eventlog: Error: Cannot read the Event Log /mnt/harddisk/log/messages.5.

Configuration log: Error: Cannot read the Event Log /mnt/harddisk/log/tandberg_webconfig.log.0.

When I reset to Info for H.323 and SIP the errors remain.

Can this be corrected?

I've 2 VCS Controls on UCS with X8.1 and there I do not see these errors even if I enable debug for SIP and H.323.

rgds, Geert.

Hi There, I am also seeing the same issue on VCS appliance 8.1.

I was wondering if you managed to resolve this?

Thanks

Yes this is a known minor issue experienced in X8.1 onwards. It is a know issue under Cisco bug ID: CSCuo17523

Symptom:
After upgrading from X7.2.2 to X8.1, the Status > Logs > Configuration Log page showed an error message - Error: Cannot read the Event Log /mnt/harddisk /log/tandberg_webconfig.log.0

Conditions:

When upgrading from X7.2.x to X8.1.

Workaround:

Clear the alarm by deleting all of the webconfig.log files with 0 filesize.

/mnt/harddisk/log # ls -l tand*

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3003609 Mar 20 11:00 tandberg_webconfig.log

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 4 2010 tandberg_webconfig.log.0

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 4 2010 tandberg_webconfig.log.1

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 4 2010 tandberg_webconfig.log.2

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 4 2010 tandberg_webconfig.log.3

1/ rm /mnt/harddisk/log/tandberg_webconfig.*

2/ Reboot the server

I hope this helps.
