VCS upgrade to latest

Hi All,

The setup is bit old, VCS version is X8.2.2 and it is on "TANDBERG  Video communication Server" hardware. The latest release 8.10 or 8.11 may not be possible on this hardware platform. But can someone suggest what would be the maximum version upgrade possible on this hardware? Tried for related document but couldn't fine one.

Also if this has to be updated to latest with virtual machine migration, What will be the better plan:

Upgrade to most possible version on TANDBERG Hardware -- backup -- Fresh install of the same version on Virtual machine -- Restore -- update to latest?

If you look at the "Supported Platforms" section - Table 2, of the VCS Release Notes, you will see the versions that are spported on your hardware platform.

Given that you have the old TANDBERG hardware, it will likely be one of the 52A0#### for 52A1####-52A4#### serial numbers.

If it's one of the A0s, then you are only fully supported up to version X8.6.1 (and only critical fixes in X8.7.n).

If it's one of the newer A1-A4 versions, then you are fully supported up to version X8.6.1, but also for cirtical fixes up to and inclyding X8.8.3.

Note that these old Gen 1 Appliances go completely end of support on 30 September 2019.

I'd strongly recommend that you look at migrating from the old hardware to a new Virtual VCS if you have a suitable VM environment to do so.  There is a $0 SKU you can purchase to enable you to transfer all your licencing from the old hardware to the new VM.
