When will SX, MX and C-series video endpoints have a DTMF tones keypad on the Call Control page?

Currently, the Call Control page on the web interface of Cisco video endpoints does not have a way to enter DTMF tones remotely.   There does not appear to be a DTMF tones keypad available in order to enter these tones remotely.   Does anyone know if Cisco will be adding this soon?

You can input DTMF tones using the web interface under Configuration > API.

xCommand DTMFSend CallId: DTMFString:

  • CallId: The CallID is returned when the xCommand Dial command is run. During the call you can run the xStatus Call command to see the CallId.
  • DTMFString: Enter the DTMF string.

Example: xCommand DTMFSend CallId:2 DTMFString:1234

Best place to find out upcoming or possible updates would be to contact your Cisco Account Manager, if nothing is being developed or looked at currently, they can create an enhancement request for you.  However, the C Series and earlier MX Series endpoints are already end-of-sale, and the TC software they run is in maintenance mode, so getting new features added to these particular devices is unlikey.  Although there is a chance to get it added to the current line of SX and MX Series endpoints, just need to contact your Cisco AM and see what they can do to submit your request.

Hello Patrick,

Can you explain in more details please.

For example: for an ISDN calls , 01XXXXXXXX then conf ID: 1234567

How you send the DTMF from API web interface?

The DTMFSend API command doesn't specify a particular protocol (ie: H323/SIP or ISDN), so I'd assume it would work for ISDN as well, but can't say for sure.

See my previous reply, you go to Configuration > API within the web interface to enter API commands.

Don't mean to HiJack, but is this the only want to properly send DTMF from an SX20? Doesn't seem to work from the Touch 8.

With the Touch 8, when in a call, you should be able to use the keypad option.  See the SX20 with Touch 8 User Guide on pg 23.  If that doesn't work, you could try using the remote control if you have one, else you'll need to use the API.

Hello all,

It would appear this is a real issue i.e. not having the DTMF tones on the call control page. This is a pretty important feature for remote administration

As in the answer marked as correct, you can send the DTMF tones via the web interface using the API commands.  These can also be issued via a telnet or SSH connection to the Command Line Interface on the endpoint.

Again, as mentioned in the answer marked as correct, if you believe an easier way needs to be added to the endpoint software, then your best approach would be to contact your Cisco Account Manager and ask them to lodge a Feature Request for consideration in a new software version.
