Building Automation For Firewall Policy Provisioning

Fatih Ayvaz, Software Architect, Cisco CX

Abstract

This session discusses the software building blocks and automation concepts to enable a solution for multi-vendor firewall policy provisioning. Current practices of configuring firewalls, especially in a multi-vendor network are mostly following traditional methods of manual configuration by a team of skilled firewall experts having expertise in a multitude of firewall technologies. Moreover, firewall configuration changes are critical tasks, and any incorrect configuration can have very severe impacts. On the other hand, changes are time-sensitive to mitigate security risks and/or enable value-generating network services. This presentation will cover a set of automation concepts to showcase building blocks that have been designed and verified in a couple of engagements.
