Guy after reading long RN, compatibility matrix and upgrade guides. First of all, jump upgrade is poorly written. and we all mistakenly believe that it is for even versions beyond 9.x. say (10.5 and 11.x).
still i want to confirm from experts here about my migration understanding. point out if i am wrong.
1. Migration with PCD
MCS 7.1(2)-----L2 upgrade--->MCS7.1(5)-------PCD discovery+COP files**---- New11.x OVA in VM+ PCD M1-migrate----->CUCM11.x---->DONE
2. Migration without PCD.
MCS7.1(2)------L2upgrade------>MCS7.1(5)---Virtualize/UCS 7.1(5)------>cucm11 (not supported- Do not try this adventure)
2.a Option 1 (if you have 8.x SW license)
MCS7.1(2)----->MCS7.1(3)---->virtualize/UCS 7.1(3)-----RU--->UCS8.6-------Direct Upgrade------>CUCM11
2.b Option 2 (if you do not have intermediate software license for 8.x)
MCS7.1(2)--L2upgrade-->MCS7.1(3)---Virtualize/UCS7.1(3)------jump-upgrade----->UCS9.1----->Rehost 9.x with 11.x OVA**----RU------>11.x---->Done

1. minimum version of CUCM that PCD can migrate to 11.x is 6.1(5)
2. Minimum version that you can manually upgrade to 11.x is 8.6(1)
please provide your valuable feedback. suggestions are highly appreciated.

1 If doing a MIGRATION, no, if doing an UPGRADE, yes
2 Nope, the jump upgrade means you'll build the fresh VMs from which you'll DRS the upgraded VMs with unaligned partitions using the same 9.x OVAs, not 11.x OVAs.
Finish the upgrade, build fresh 9.x VMs WITH THE 9.X OVAs, DRS restore on them, THEN, carry on with the upgrade.
The rest of the process looks good.

Top questions
1 There are no COP files required for the migration, the only ones are the cop files PCD will install on your servers when you discover them.
2 Not valid option, that's why PCD was created for.
3 Often used
4 What most people do if they don't meet the PCD ESXi licensing
All the COPs you mention are for UPGRADE, not for MIGRATION. Very important to understand PCD works very differently for each.
Lower questions

1. so we do not need to upload any of the 4 cop file on PCD or on Cluster if we are doing PCD migration ??
in 2.b, can you please verify if my migration path to cucm11.x is good 2 go ? because i might follow this path in coming week.
