Current CUCM version is 12.5 with 80 GB disk size, can we upgrade to version 15 by expanding the disk size to 110?

No. You cannot expand the disk. You need to re-deploy and install the Node from scratch (Check out "Fresh Install with Data Import")

Unfortunately, no. When you expand the disk size, all of the additional space is automatically allocated to the common/logging partition. As a result, your "active" partition, which is where the CUCM OS resides, will remain the same and be inadequate.

You will need to:
1 - Backup your current 12.5 cluster.
2 - Create a new virtual machine using the defined/necessary specifications (CPU/RAM/Disk):
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/virtualization/virtualization-cisco-unified-communications-manager.html
3 - Install your current version of CUCM 12.5 on the new VM.
4 - Restore from backup on the new VM.
5 - And then you can upgrade to version 15.

Can you migrate straight from from 12.5 with an 80gb disk to 15 or 15.1 with a 110gb disk using export/fresh install with import or PCD, or do you have to get 12.5 on a 110gb OVA first, then upgrade?

You do not need to have 12.5 on a 110GB disk, you can use data import or PCD migration from the 80GB on 12.5 to 110GB on 15. However if you actually want to do an upgrade, you’ll need to follow the steps shared by @kgareis

Will CUCM be supported via KVM. We have lots of customers that don't want to run vmware. Any news on this ?

CCIE-Collaboration #24527

No only ESXi is supported.

I know that :), I asked will it be supported ?  is there a plan in place or shall I just tell me customer to go else where ?

CCIE-Collaboration #24527

Per the information shared by the BU there are no plans to support any other hypervisor.

I'm sorry, but no. There is no plan in place to support bare metal installations for CUCM.

KVM is a HyperVisor , not baremetal.

Hafthor,

My apologies, for some reason my mind went to physical "keyboard video mouse" (KVM).  In that case, Roger is correct, ESXi is the only supported hypervisor and there are no plans in the pipeline to add any other hypervisors to the supported list.

Thats sad to hear, and strange since cisco supports so many other products on KVM, like Cisco ISE. After vmware change their prices running CUCM on vmware is much more expensive for many customers. Specifically, those that are running in bigger environments.

Thanks for the answers, I guess I have to take this up with our Cisco team.
