Hi,
We've migrated a client from a PBX system where they could set the message to be automatically deleted after X days. In looking through the Unity System Guide, it states that Cisco?Unity does not automatically delete messages when they reach a certain age.
Any ideas why there would be this limitation?

The short answer is because in many Unity installs we don't "own" the message store so automatically removing messages that were not explicitly acted on by a user is dangerous. We do provide a tool to setup rules that allows admins to do this type of thing - The message store manager:

Microsoft also has a mailbox admin tool that can do some of the same things that ships with Exchange 2000 and later - it's not quite as detailed and can be more difficult to use but both can be configured to do what you want.

You can use the Message Store Manager utility to acomplish this.
