Hi,
I'm planning a new BE6000 Medium implementation. While I need the CUCM and Unity, I'm not certain that I need IM&P, and in it's place I'd like to add the Telepresence Server to give some multiparty MCU-like functionality to video conferences.
The plan is to have people contactable by IP phone, VTC suite and Jabber, adding a CUBE and VCS-c/e pair at a later date for B2B VTC.
I don't need (or want) instant messaging and file transfer, but I would like the ability for people to be reached through both IP phone and their laptop PC when out of the office (subject to the capability of the link, QoS etc.).
I have three queries -

Hi,
If you really don't need any chat or file transfer capabilities and also no plans of any federation with other enterprise running Lync or other clients then IM&P is not mandatory. Phone-mode can provide you the basic calling functions. Regarding TPS running with and without conductor, the following link provides some pros and cons of locally and remotely managed modes

Also, remember that The Cisco TelePresence Server on Cisco MSE 8710 can be locally or remotely managed (by Cisco TelePresence Conductor). All other versions can be run only in remotely managed mode.

Thanks Manish, that helps - I'd need a Conductor as well. I'll have to ask some questions over on the Telepresence forum.
It would still be useful to find a list of what functions I'd lose from Jabber without IM&P. Several documents state that you should be aware of the loss of features, but none that I've found detail exactly what features are lost.
