We are looking to implement Calling in Webex App for use on mobile laptops and phones, however, these users would go between working on-premise and remotely. I have read through the deployment guide on this, but I am looking to confirm the required components and seeking your expertise. We run an on-premise CUCM 12.5.1.1 cluster on BE6000 servers.
As an alternative, to register back to the on-premise UCM, is a vpn supported or is the expressway pair required? Any caveats or recommendations?
What licensing is required for the expressway pair virtual appliances? We do currently have expressway rich media session licenses, which I believe are required for calls tunneling through the expressway pair, is that accurate?
Is a webex calling license require if we are pointing the app to the backend UCM?
Does the webex app require additional UCM device licenses or are the existing licenses sufficient if the CSF device is associated/own by a user to allow webex app to register?
Hopefully I am not too far off here.
TIA
Respectfully

Mobile Remote Access, MRA in short, does not require any licenses. You do not need Webex Calling licenses when using CM and you do not need any additional licenses in CM based on what you asked about.
VPN is absolutely supported, but most use MRA to facilitate the communication.
