Cisco 9971 IP Phone displays no free lines available

Hi,

We have multiple 9971 phones. But, one of the 9971 phones often displays "no free lines available" in the screen.

Any idea why this could happen?

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks

HI Rajeswari,

It seems you have a shared line and it is happening due to the Maximum number of calls setting under the DN page.

Can you check that setting and increase it's value?

Regards,

Hitesh

Hi Hitesh,

This extension is not used as shared line. The DN is assigned only on line 1 of the phone. Also, it is not assigned to any other person.

Any other idea?

Thanks

Hi,

You can also make use of calling party transformation patterns. Basically create calling party transformation pattern for international calls, national calls etc and specify appropriate calling party transformation CSS on the gateway/trunk.

Hi Aseem,

We have around 20 9971 phones and only one phone displays such error message "No free lines available". No shared line. kind of weird.

Any other idea?

Thanks

Hi,

If the issue is with one phone can you disconnect the phone from the network, delete the phone from cucm database, delete the extension from route plan report and configure everything again to check if it works.

Thanks Aseem,

That was already done. This issue occurred with the same phone before 2 months and now again. So, we are replacing the phone.

Thanks all for your assistance.
