Cisco UCS BE6K-M6-K9 showing low CPU resource

Dear All,

I am installing CIsco Collaboration version 15 applications on BE6K-M6-K9 server. I chose medium level OVA format for CUCM, Unity, IM&P. Now when I am installing Expressway , I am getting low resource error (CPU) on BE6K-M6-K9 VMware Esxi page it not allow to install.

I realize BE6K-M6-K9 only support five VM with Small VM size. I already configured all nodes only Expressway  installation and configuration pending.

Can I shutdown VM nodes and resize it and power on to free resource in server or I need to delete every thing and start installation all VM in Small Example VM.

you can change CPU & RAM after installation,
but if deployment scale of a vm is depend on HDD disk, you must delete vm & install it again..

Use the sizing tools, especially the Quote Collab Servers Only option and it will tell you exactly what will fit.

Each OVA has CPU and RAM reservations set since you’re not allowed to oversubscribe at all (and must leave room for ESXi itself). If you manually tweak the VM settings as @Mohammadreza Hadi @mentioned be sure you catch the reservations as well.

Hello @rmishra,
You can shut down existing VMs, resize them to Small OVA profiles, then power them back on—this will free up CPU resources for Expressway installation. No need to delete everything unless resizing fails or causes compatibility issues. Always back up before making changes.

Hi @rmishra ,

The BE6K-M6-K9 has limited CPU resources, and running multiple medium-sized VMs can cause resource shortages. For your situation:

  • Shutting down existing VMs and resizing them to smaller resource allocations is possible, but may cause issues if not planned carefully.

  • Ideally, if the server supports only small VM sizes for your deployment, it’s safer to delete existing VMs and reinstall all with the small VM profile to ensure resource compatibility.

  • Make sure to verify resource allocation limits on the UCS platform and VMware ESXi before proceeding.

This approach should help avoid CPU resource conflicts during Expressway installation.
