CUCM 10.5 hiding the Corporate Directory

I’m trying to configure CUCM 10.5 to that 20 of my 1500 phones in the cluster cannot access the corporate directory.  Here is what we have come up with.

  1. Delete the Corporate Directory phone service since it's currently an Enterprise Subscription and all phones get it.
  2. Rebuild the Corporate Directory phone service without the Enterprise Subscription flag checked.
  3. Subscribe 1480 phones to the new Corporate Directory
  4. Leaving 20 that aren’t subscribed and they are good to go with no Corporate Directory

Clearly subscribing 1480 phones one at a time is a non-starter.

Is this a supported/good approach?

How can I make this a more generic setting?

Is there a pool or something I can configure for directory subscriptions?

Thank you for any insight.

Tod, steps 1 and 2 are correct. For step 3, follow the below steps:

a) Go to Cisco Unified CM Administration >> Bulk Administration >> Phones >> Phone Template and create a new template for the phone models that you are using and assign Corporate Directory to it by going into Subscribe/Unsubscribe Services option on the told right side under Related Links

a) After doing above, go to Cisco Unified CM Administration >> Bulk Administration >> Phones >> Updates Phones >> Query and choose the 1480 phones that should have the service >> Next >> Assign IP Phone Services and choose the Phone Template created in point A and run the job

You can choose the option to reset/restart etc while running the job or you can do that later as well.

Edit to the O.P In case, you do not want to do it for 1480 phones in one go then you can probably run the query in batches for a limited set of phones e.g. 200 in one go etc as per your requirement

No, as it's handled as a service right now, you handle it the same way as EM.

That is what you would need to do, as all phones by default will be subscribed to it.
