CUCM 11.5 Restricted and Unity Connection 11.5 Unrestricted

Hello, everybody.

The customer has CUCM and Unity unrestricted, and they have decided to migrate CUCM to Restricted version owing to have encryption.

I couldn't find any restrictions for integration of CUCM restricted and Unyty unrestricted, for not to order and upgrade Unity Connection server as well.

I guess that all limitations I can face are non-encrypted voice mails.

What do you think ?

Hi Fedor,

Such a deployment should work however this mix and match is not the recommended type of deployment. I would try to check for any official doc to support this if no one else provides it in the meantime.

I looked through Compatibility Matrix of CUCM and Unity. It is said about of version compatibility but not mentioned about crypto features. What I mean is: Compatibility Matrix for Cisco Unity Connection

Hi Fedor,

That is exactly the point, the compatibility matrices or install/admin guides do not mention any restriction with such a mix and match of restricted and unrestricted CUCM and CUC. However, some internal discussion do suggest it is not recommended. I will be able to look into this further tomorrow to see if i can find any official word on this , if you want a confirmation urgently then you may check with TAC or lets wait for someone to chime in on this post.

Hi Fedor,

From all i could gather such a mix of restricted CUCM and unrestricted CUC will work and there should be no issues with the same, no external references though about the mix and match scenarios ( restricted and unrestricted ) between various applications like CUCM , CUC and IM&P.
