Hi experts,
Following topology:
PSTN GW (ISR 2, with PVDM3) ----MGCP---CUCM----SIP---Mediation server---SIP---OCS.
> Can't I do SIP directly from CUCM to OCS, why mediation server is required here? If its not required could you point me to some Cisco doc explaining the direct integration between CUCM--OCS with features/limitations?
> If I use PVDM3 as video conference bridge and have VT Advantage, Cisco 7985 phones, can I do video conference from MOC?
thanks,

Regarding the first part of your question, Mediation server is required because MSFT uses their proprietory codecs RT Audio and not industry standard codec such as G711/722/729. Hence Mediation server is needed for transcoding G711 to RT Audio. Mediation server also cannot handle anything but transcoding from G711 if I am not mistaken. So if you are running 722/729 or any other codec but 711 you will first need to transcode it to 711 before handing to the mediation server

Thanks for you time Srini,
Do I still need Mediation server if I've CUCIMOC setup? Any inputs on conferencing requirements I've?
Thanks,

No with CUCIMOC there is no need for mediation server since there is no audio between ocs and ccm. Ccm is the only call control in this design. Ocs is merely providing IM and presence

Not sure I understand the second part of your question. To do multipoint video you need to either use a MCU (Tandberg, Polycom, CUVC) or MP. PVDM3 cannot be used a video bridge. Also MOC video can be used with CUVC and Tandberg Codian. CUCIMOC video is from Cisco call control using the CSF framework and can join a multi point session using MP or dedicated MCU mentioned above
Thanks
