CUCM 9.1 migration from MCS server to UCS 240 M5

Hi

I'm planning to migrate cucm & UC version 9.1. It's currently running on MCS server. We need to migrate to UCS then planning for upgrade the version to 11.0.

There are two cluster in the environment.  One has 5 nodes other has 10 nodes. Planning to migrate 5 node cluster first.

I never performed any migration before.

I want to know the procedure / guidance for migration. We are not going to change IP / host name.

What are the important parameters needs to be considered.

Migration using PCD is best or direct backup & restore is best. Please guide me on this.

Hi,

I would suggest giving PCD Migration a shot.

Point to keep in mind:

1) Ports between PCD and source cluster.

2) Esxi License on target host

Is PCD Migration supports only cucm  version after 10.0?

What are the steps to be followed for DRF and restore migration?

hi,

PCD migration supports versions from all the way 6.X to 11.X.

Please refer to the administration guide

Disaster Recovery Steps would involve:

1) collate the bootable media(iso) of the current version, upgrade media(iso)  credentials of the original cluster.

2) check replication, services and NTP of source/original cluster.

3) take a fresh back of original cluster.

4) shutdown the original cluster.

5) Build a replica of the system on new hardware. (Same IP, Hostname, Cluster Security Password, Certificate info)

6) restore the backup taken on original cluster to the new cluster.

7) check replication, services and NTP of new cluster.

8) Upgrade the cluster.

9) check replication, services and NTP of new cluster.

In case of any exceptions or failures, you will always have your original cluster in good condition.
