Hi,
We are going to migrate our CUCM custer from version 6.1.2 to 9.1
Now we have MCS servers and the new cluster is going to be in virtualized UCS.
We have removed one of the subscribers of the cluster to upgrade this server until version 8.6 (we need to get cluster in this version also) to get the Database in this server with this version, but I´m trying to backup actual DB but I get an error when I try to configure Backup Device:
Status: | Local Agent is not responding. This may be due to Master or Local Agent being down. |
Do I need to promote the subscriber to publisher?
Thanks and regards,

There is no concept of promotion, you cannot just upgrade a subscriber, you need to first upgrade publisher before you can upgrade subscribers. Not sure what you want to accomplish by upgrading a subscriber, but what you should be doing is using the jump upgrade process to get to version 9 on UCS. There is plenty of threads on this topic, first upgrade your current 6.1.2 to 6.1.5, then take DRS backup, install 6.1.5 on UCS, restore from backup and then upgrade to 9.1.2.
HTH,
Chris

That would not be officially supported as you can only install 6.1.4 or 6.1.5 under the supported Drive to 9 initiative:

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your response.
Perhaps another option could be to install 6.1.2 version in the UCS and then migrate it throught the different versions, isn´t?
Thanks and regards,
Alberto
