CUEAC Upgrade

We are still running CUEAC version 3.1.1.8 and I would like to upgrade. Is there an upgrade path to version 8 and up? Do I have to start from scratch or can I export the data of do an in-place upgrade from this old version? What do you suggest?

I don't think you can get anything below 9.x right now, the documentation addresses possible upgrade paths, have you reviewed it???
