Hello,
I'm using the CUPC sofware and I'm wondering if it's possible to see the phone state of a desktop phone (without CUPC soft).
For example, I added a desktop phone in my contacts list and I want to see the state of the phone (“On hook”, “Off hook”, "Hang up").
Thanks for your help.
Edit : my CUPC version is 8.5.1.17660

Hi Maciej,
I have the CCM Service - Device - SIP CUP Publish trunk configured in my CUCM and I do receive phone status updates from the CUPC client but not the deskphone unless the user is logged into CUPC.
When I configured the deskphone section - "Protocol | Subscribe CSS" to the same CSS as the trunk only then I was able to see the status of a contact with a deskphone that does not have CUPC deployed or is not online.
The attached is a screenshot of a phone "Rob" that does not have CUPC, but I can see that he is on this deskphone.
HTH
Regards, Mike

Hello,
I finally got what I wanted to do (see the status of a user only associate with a deskphone).
On the device configuration, I need to associate an user to a line appearance and this user need to have the parameter "Enable CUP (Cisco Unified Presence)" check in System > Licensing > Capabilities Assignment (no need to check "
When I go to CUPS > User Managment > End User, in the device section, there is only one device (the deskphone). And in the "Cisco Unified Personal Communicator" section the is (this proves that my user does not have CUPC deployed).
So now, in CUPC software, I see the deskphone status into my contact list. I see the status contact, offline, and when I hang up the phone the status is "Offline, On the phone" like Michael Lee sayed.
I hope I used accurate terminology (I do my best).
Regards,
Thomas.

quick question on this.
for the user that you want to see the line status and you checked "enable CUP" do you actually have a presence license for that person?
trying to do the same thing on an upcoming project but no system to test it on

Hi,
I think the answer is yes, because the CUP server would only subscribe to the phone status if the monitored user is enabled for CUP. I haven't tested this and the point has become mute, thanks to Cisco's new Jabber for everyone licensing model.
With Jabber you keep all your infrastructure but replace the CUPC client.
Talk to you Cisco AM to get the CUPC/Jabber for everyone Licenses.
Cheers,
