Software Version: 4.0(4)SR1
Problem Details: We have unity and have upgraded to 4.0(4)SR1 and all is working perfectly. We recently purchased enough VMtoUM licenses to convert all to Unified. We would like to perform a reinstallation of unity and use our corporate exchange 2003 server as the message store. We would also prefer to have the unity server running on windows 2003 instead of windows 2000. We have purchased additional hard drives in order to have an easy backout plan.
Here is our intention:
Use DIRT to backup both the configuration and messages of all subscribers.
Shut down the unity server. Remove and label existing hard drives. Install new hard drives. Install Windows 2003. Install Unity 4.0(4) from media, using the same server name and ip address. During the install we will select to install TTS engine. During the configuration phase, we will select our corporate exchange server as the message store.
Now for the questions:
Is this a TAC-supported method of upgrade? Will the DIRT restore go smoothly? Note we are installing onto a Win2003 platform from 4.0(4) cdroms.
We have had a previous experience where the DIRT restore did not go well because the name of the exchange organization did not match, and that will be the case here.
