Is there a way to change the system default for the 'Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control' from disabled to enabled. I understand how to change it for a specific phone and also how to use the bulk edit to change it for many devices of the same type but would really like to be able to change the default to ensure future devices that are built do not have to have the setting changed each time. Is there any risk in doing this and is there a way to change this default? Using Communications Manager 8.5.1 and device types 7975, 7970, 7965, and 7962.

I don't know of a way to change that setting globally, but you can create/edit the per model phone templates and as long as you BAT in future phones using that template you'll get what you want. That's as close as I think you're going to get on this.

You may try using BAT as: Bulk Administration > Phones > Update Phones > Query, once there just look for phones of the same type so the "Product specific infomration layout" setion appears ( if we select different phone types this section won't show up).
I hope this helps,

As fabricio said, you can do in in BAT, you have to go to Bulk Administration > phones > update phones > query,
You have to select only phones with the same type and same protocol, you need to filter for phone type and protocol, so if you are planning to do it in different phone types and protocols you have to do it on each phone type.
For example, you filter for phone type 7975 protocol SCCP, and you will see all the SCCP 7975 phones that you have there, then you hit next.
The hookswitch control parameter is in the "Product Specific Configuration Layout" and the reason of doing in on one specific phone type at a time is because this "Product Specific Configuration Layout" section appears only when you have selected phones that have the same type and same protocol.
There you can ctrl+f for the word "hook" or find the "Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control" option in the "Product Specific Configuration Layout" section. Once you find that, change it to 'enable' and mark the checkbox, also, select the option to reset the phones in the "Logout/Reset/Restart" section at the begining of that page and hit submit.
Then, go to bulk administration > job scheduler, and go to that job, it would be the last one, verify that the status is 'completed' if it says 'hold' you can select that one and hit 'activate', depending on how many phones you had selected for that job it might take a while, the phones will reset and will come up with the hookswitch enabled.
It works that way.

Hi,
I know it's been 3 years ago but nobody answered the question as how to put the default to Enabled.
My customer have CUCM version 8.5.1.
Thanks.
Sonia.

Not trying to be snarky, but I answered that question. There is no global default setting.

Thanks... but the only thing I saw from you is:
I don't know of a way to change that setting globally...
Have a nice day!

There IS no way to set it globally, but this is the closest that you can get to the OP's question:
I don't know of a way to change that setting globally, but you can create/edit the per model phone templates and as long as you BAT in future phones using that template you'll get what you want. That's as close as I think you're going to get on this.
