I have Presence 10.5 with the Jabber 10.6 client installed. When I search for a contact in the Jabber client, is this only searching the Outlook contacts? I show connected to both Outlook address book and the CUCM directory, but it appears that I can only add the clients from my outlook contacts. Do I have to use the bulk admin tool for contacts to add the ldap users in CUCM and does this use the ldap attributes defined in Presence under Application-Client Settings?

Do you have properly configured your LDAP integration?

Hi Jaime,
All of my users in cucm and presence are coming over from ldap. I should have clarified my question a little. I can add the user into jabber and the instant message and status for that user works, but the phone number for that company user appears to come from my Outlook contact instead of the cucm ldap contact which has the IP phone attribute.

OK, Jabber doesn't use UDS unless it's configured to, Jabber uses a whole separate directory integration from what you have configured in your CUCM, and the default is EDI.
Have you properly configured the Jabber directory integration??
The Jabber documentation dedicates a whole chapter to this topic.

Ok. I am using UDS on my Jabber client when I go to connection status. A user that just got added to 10.5 shows ldap as the directory service protocol. Is this per user?

Both users are using the same UC Service Profile which has UDS.

Jaime,
I found your Jabber video on youtube. Great video. I setup my srv records and everything seems to be working there now. I noticed in the video that you have a jabber xml file for the clients. Is this needed for 10.5? I thought I read somewhere that 9.x and above can use the service profiles to pull this information in. I did a reset of my client and now when I login it shows ldap for the protocol instead of UDS which I have defined in the service profile.

The .xml file has plenty of parameters that cannot be configured anywhere else, whether you need it or not, depends on your deployment.
Yes, the preferred option for configuring the basic directory options, is the service profile, but there are still options that might need to be configured in the .xml

Do you know where the EDI ldap mappings get defined for the client?

That would be in the .xml if you don't want to use the default ones.

Thanks for all the help. I did get this to work with UDS as well, but I had to define the client to use UDS in the xml config file. I also had to disable outlook contact search so that the client would only search the UDS directory. I never could get UDS to work with a windows client without defining it in the XML. Does the jabber client query dns for a global catalog record and if one is found does it use LDAP automatically?

Yes, the Jabber documentation explains this, if there is no config, it will try the domain SRV records for LDAP integration.

Great. Last question. Is there not a way to export the contacts out of the jabber client that I have setup already. One would think if you can import then you should be able to export.

In order to export you need to do in the IM&P admin page.
