Hello,
I acquired a BE6000M M5SX for a customer a year and a half ago. It has been stored in good condition. We have just started it.
Unfortunately it refuses to start..... The initial procedure in standby goes well (all the LEDs on the front are green). When I press power, the fans go to max but nothing else, the disks don't turn on and nothing on the screen (no boot image), I waited about 20 minutes. The power button remaing Amber.
I opened the cover to check the error LEDs of the ram and the motherboard but everything is green.... Of course the server is out of warranty since it was purchased a year and a half ago...
Someone get into this situation and what can I do?
Thank you

Try a different power supply. Renew the smartnet that would be cheaper than finding a replacement server boards in ebay.
Since its a new attache you need to wait 30 days to open the RMA. You can only renew the Smartnet if cisco doesn't flag your s/n.

I would probably start here (Cisco UCS C220 Server Installation and Service Guide - Maintaining the Server [Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers] - Cisco) as the state of the various lights on the server should give you an idea of what the problem might be. Generally speaking, a failure to boot is usually hardware related (CPU, Memory, Motherboard).
Also, have you hooked up a monitor to the server to see if there is any output when you power it on?

Thank you mradell,
Yes hooked up a monitor to the server , no output.
As i said , in the motherboard , all lights are green , so no CPU/RAM/MB error .
In the back the power supply LED is solid Green when power up , so no power supply problem..
When I press the Power button on the server, it turns green for half a second then becomes amber again, then the fans go to max, then nothing...
seems to be a Bios problem.

At this point I would try a known good power supply if you have one available. If that doesn't fix it, In would lean towards it being a hardware issue with the board requiring replacement. Even though it probably isn't under any warranty or smart net coverage I would still reach out to TAC with the server info just to make sure you've exhausted all your options. You can find replacement server boards on eBay and such, but trying to fix that kind of stuff yourself is always a gamble.
