Once I answer a call in CUPC, how do I forward it?

OK I think I figured out a way to do forwarding, while you are on the line
you dial another party, it puts the first party on hold. After second party answers the conference button is activated, allowing for all partys to conference. After conferecing you can drop off the line and the call is forwarded. This seems really bulky and makes blind transfers impossible.
Is there another way to transfer a call? I really wish there was a big fat transfer button

What version of CUPC are you using? You're correct you cannot transfer in CUPC 7 but you can with CUPC 8, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/voice_ip_comm/cupc/8_0/english/release/notes/cupc80.html.
