Personal Communicator Not Regetering on Apple MAC

Hi EveryOne,

We have install Cisco Unified Presence 8.5 and are in the deployment Phase. For windows we are using the personal communcator cupc-Admin-ffr.8-5-1

and Apple MAC we are using the latest available in the site CUPC-mac-Admin-ffr.ES-7-1-1a-k9

All the features are working on the personal communicator installed in windows. But for MAC the personal communicator is not even registering. We have dispable the firewall in MAC and used the same user for testing.

Anybody faced this issue before? is there any compatability issue with CUPC 8.5 and and personal communcator 7.1.1a for MAC

We had this issue and it was because the device name in CallManager has to begin with UPC.  See "Guidelines for Configuring the Softphone Device Name" in the link below.

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_Presence%2C_Release_7.x_--_How_to_Configure_Cisco_Unified_Personal_Communicator_on_Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager#How_to_Configure_Cisco_Unified_Personal_Communicator_on_Cisco_Unified_Communications_M...

Well its not the name issue, as the same user can successfully log into a windows machine with Personal Communcator 8.5. Well the release notes of  Personal Communcator 7-1-1a(which happens to be the latest in the cisco site) which we are using for MAC does not mention that it is supported for CUP 8.5 and CUCM 8.5. So we believe at present for 8.5 version of CUCM and CUP, MAC client is not available.

Sean above is right.

CUPC 7.1 for MAC has a different configuration requirements compared to an 8.5 client.

The device should be UPC in CUCM and not a csf device.

The release notes of 7.1 do not mention it is supported with 8.5 because when they were written CUP 8.5 did not exist

There is backwards compatibility with most of the 7.x clients.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Christos
